:City Of Carroll Reports Decrease In Both Receipts And Expenditures In Fiscal Year 2018

At last week’s budget work session for Carroll City Council members, they received an audit report for Fiscal Year 2018. The report, prepared by Feldmann & Company, showed a decrease of slightly over seven percent in receipts from the previous year at just over $17.6 million for the year ending June 30, 2018. The identified reason for the decrease in receipts was due mainly to smaller debt issuances for capital improvements. On the other side of the equation, the city also saw a decrease in disbursements for the year, down just over three percent from the previous fiscal year at over $16.5 million. Reductions in capital expenditures were cited as the reason for the decrease. In Fiscal Year 2018, the City of Carroll collected almost $6.5 million in property taxes, just over $6 million in charges for services and over $1.4 million from Local Option Sales Tax (L.O.S.T.). Over the same time period, they spent over $4.3 on capital projects, more than $2.5 million on culture and recreation and more than $2.3 million on public works. A full copy of the audit report is available at the city clerk’s office or it can be found online at the Auditor of the State’s website, a link to which is included below.
