Central Church Of Carroll Celebrates Opening Of New Dog Park

A new dog park opened in Carroll today (Friday) thanks to Central Church and support from its congregation, local businesses and residents. The Central Dog Bark is located just off Highway 30 East on the church’s property and features a large, fenced-in area with agility equipment, watering stations, benches and much more. Pastor, Ryan Gallegos, says the idea to bring a place for dogs to run and play to town was started by the class of 2020 while in fifth grade and has been in the works for over seven years.

Several years ago, church leaders took the project into their own hands and started preparing designs, doing research and reaching out to local businesses and residents to raise funds. The park features an inclined climbing ramp, see-saw, slalom posts, hurdles and a balance beam. Gallegos says they are pleased with how the park turned out, and they are already planning an expansion.

Central Church Executive Director, Jon Sampson, says one of the best aspects of the park is that it is open to all members of the public.

Sampson adds there is no fee to use the park, but they do suggest a $25 annual donation per dog to help cover some of the maintenance costs. The Carroll Chamber of Commerce helped celebrate the opening on Friday morning with a ribbon cutting. More information on how to donate to the park, its rules and regulations and photos from the opening can be found included with this story on our website.
