CCSD Board Of Education Approves Two Bids Totaling $77,000 To Build New Control Room For Tiger Vision Broadcasts And Videoboard Displays

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education approved two bids at Thursday’s meeting to move forward with the construction of a control room at the high school. When completed, the proposed control room will be positioned in the small commons and allow Tiger Vision students to manage broadcasts and displays at the Carroll Athletic Field and gymnasium. Building and Grounds Supervisor, Jeff Dvorak, says they received bids from Badding Construction and Rotert Construction for the project.

The videoboard at the high school is expected to be installed sometime in July, and the board approved Badding’s bid, contingent on them being able to complete several pieces of preliminary work by July 8 at the latest. They then moved onto bids for equipment in the control room. Two were received: one from Aldis Systems, totaling $55,000; and one from Z Systems for $45,000. Chelsea Bissen, the instructor for Tiger Vision, says Aldis’ bid may be higher, but it provides for more opportunities and ease of use for her students.

The board expressed concern over the high cost of the equipment, but Director of Business Affairs, Gary Bengtson, says around half could be covered without using taxpayer dollars.

Technology Director, Craig Rowedder, also suggested they could trim some unnecessary or redundant pieces from the proposal. With this in mind, the board voted to accept the bid from Aldis Systems. Barring any major delays, the construction on the control room will be completed by mid-July, and the videoboard and equipment could be operational by the start of the fall athletic seasons.
