Carroll’s Regency Park Hosts Alzheimer’s Association Representative Monday For Next Ask The Experts Event

Area residents are invited to Regency Park in Carroll at the start of next week for their next Ask the Experts event. Greg Woods, a program specialist and research champion for the Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be the featured speaker, and his presentation is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 25. Alzheimer’s is a well-known disease that generally begins with memory loss and causes language issues, disorientation, behavioral changes and more as it progresses. According to Woods, more than 65,000 Iowans have been diagnosed with the disease.

Woods adds many patients are at a loss after they are diagnosed. He says one of the main purposes of the Alzheimer’s Association is to support patients and their families.

During his presentation, Woods will highlight many of the resources available to patients and families and provide more information about how they can be utilized. Just this year, the Alzheimer’s Association has donated over $167 million to research efforts in 27 countries around the world. The cause of Alzheimer’s is still poorly understood, but Wood says they are making progress.

The free presentation will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday at Regency Park in Carroll. Light refreshments will be provided during the event.
