Carroll Teen Accused Of Burglary To Be Charged As Adult

A Carroll teen accused of breaking into a home is to be charged as an adult. According to Carroll County District Court records, 18-year-old Dalton Lee Andrew Maples allegedly entered an occupied structure in the 200 block of East 10th Street at approximately 5:14 a.m. on July 19 with the intent to commit theft and was arrested for third-degree burglary, a class D felony. Maples is also charged with assault, a simple misdemeanor, for an incident on the evening of July 6 in the 500 block of West 14th Street. Maples was 17 years old at the time, however, the charges were waived to the adult court following a judge’s order on Aug. 28. Maples is scheduled to make an initial appearance on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the courthouse. Maples also has three other pending charges in Carroll County stemming from an incident on Aug. 30: vehicular burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor, interference with official acts causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor. If found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and $16,875 in fines.
