Carroll Supervisors Approve FY 2019 Financial Report And Schedule Closed Meeting To Determine Farm Sale Minimum

Due to some changes to the state of Iowa’s online filing system for county financial reports, Carroll County Auditor, Kourtney Irlbeck, says she is presenting the Annual Fiscal Report to the Board of Supervisors a little later than usual. It is however, she says, a good report.

Irlbeck points to one potential negative aspect to this positive position.

For Fiscal Year (FY) 2019, from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, the county had budgeted for total ending fund balances of over $4.74 million, but actually ended with more than $7.77 million in fund balances. A copy of the full report can be found below. At the close of Monday morning’s regular meeting, Chair, Neil Bock, made a request that they schedule closed sessions next Monday, Dec. 9, for two specific reasons.

Bock says there is a spreadsheet available that will allow them to plug in different scenarios to assist in determining what reserve will be set for the roughly 113 acres to be sold at auction on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Whatever reserve is determined by the supervisors next week will only be presented to the auctioneer, it will not be made public. That auction will begin at 10 a.m. at the Carroll County Courthouse. Next week’s board meeting will be held at 9 a.m. in the Supervisor board room.
