Carroll Resident, Rod Roberts, Named Iowa’s Next Labor Commissioner

Carroll resident, Rod Roberts, a former state representative and past director of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA), has been appointed to serve as Iowa’s next labor commissioner. Gov. Kim Reynolds announced on Friday that Roberts will be replacing current labor commissioner, Michael Mauro, who is retiring. Roberts has a long history of public service, working for eight years as head of the DIA and also served in the Iowa House of Representative for 10 years. “It’s an honor to be named Iowa’s labor commissioner, and I appreciate Gov. Reynolds’ confidence in my abilities,” said Roberts, regarding his appointment. He indicated his focus will be on ensuring Iowans are able to work in safe and healthy environments while serving in the position.
