Spring is here and it is time for the year-long efforts in the battle against cancer to culminate at the Carroll County Relay for Life. The kick-off event this year is planned for Wednesday, March 27 at the Carrollton Centre Ballroom. Kim Durst, relay specialist with the American Cancer Society, says they are excited to celebrate the successes of 2018 and to kick-off 2019.
Carroll County was ranked number four per-capita in the nation last year, an amazing feat in keeping Carroll in the top spot for more than three decades. Durst says this year’s theme is about hope.
Co-chairs, Andy and Kate Reiman are in their second year in the position, and Andy says there will be some differences in location and timing for the June 21st Relay.
Wednesday’s Kick-Off Rally will begin at 6 p.m. with music, appetizers and a cash bar with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. Durst says they will talk about sponsorship and team recognition. They will give out the 2018 spirit award as a fun way to get rolling for this year. Brad and Brigit Pick are the other co-chairs, and Brad says they will be featuring a special guest who is a member of Carroll’s Team Williams for Life, Nathan Williams.
Information on forming a team, the Relay itself, fundraising ideas and answers to questions will be available at the rally. So far this year, 20 teams are registered, already ahead of this time in 2018. More information is also available through the link included below.
