Carroll Man Sentenced To Up To Three Years In Prison On Misdemeanor Drug Charges

A Carroll man has been sentenced to up to three years in prison on drug charges after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. According to Carroll County District Court records, 46-year-old Marcelino Del Angel submitted his guilty pleas on Thursday, Feb. 14 to possession of methamphetamine, possession oxycontin, and driving while license revoked, all serious misdemeanors. Del Angel was arrested on Nov. 7 of last year, following a traffic stop by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities located more than five grams of methamphetamine and other controlled substances during this stop. They later determined he also did not possess a valid driver’s license. He was originally charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver, habitual offender, a class C felony, but the charges were reduced in exchanged for his pleas. He was ordered on Thursday to serve up to one year in prison for each count and the sentences are to run consecutively for a total of three years. In addition to the prison terms, Del Angel was also ordered to pay more than $1,900 in fines and surcharges.
