Carroll Man Sentenced To Time In Jail On Misdemeanor Assault Charge

A Carroll man accused of threatening another man has been sentenced to serve time in the Carroll County jail. The order against 41-year-old Jacob Jay Segura was handed down Friday. Segura pled guilty to one count of assault, a simple misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 30 days incarceration, with all but two days suspended and credit for time served. He was also ordered to pay more than $200 in fines, surcharges and court costs and was placed on probation for one year. The charge stems from an incident on April 4 at the Dollar Tree in Carroll. Segura walked into the store at approximately 10:23 a.m. and aggressively grabbed the victim by the chest with the intent to cause fear.
