Carroll Man Has Probation Revoked And Will Serve Original 10-Year Sentence

After having been given at least two chances at restitution and rehabilitation by the Carroll County District Court system, a 41-year-old Carroll man is heading to prison to serve his original sentence. In April of 2018, 41-year-old Matthew Lengeling was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree theft and having a count of third-degree burglary dismissed. The court then suspended that sentence and placed Lengeling on probation for three years. Since that time, he has violated the terms of his probation, not once, but twice. According to court documents, on Dec. 20, 2018, Lengeling’s probation was modified to require a GPS monitoring device and placement in a residential correction facility, but he failed to turn himself in to one when a bed was available. A March report of violation stated that he had willfully failed to report another arrest in a timely fashion. On Tuesday, May 7, Senior Judge, Gary McMinimee, imposed the original 10 year sentence. This stems from an incident on Aug. 9, 2017 in which Lengeling was caught on surveillance video entering Biokinemetrics at approximately 1 a.m. He then spent more than four hours inside the business, leaving at about 5:30 a.m. with items valued at more than $1,200. Most of those items were later found in his possession.
