Carroll Man Arrested For Allegedly Starting Fire In Abandoned Trailer

The Carroll Police Department reports a Carroll man was taken into custody Friday in connection to a small trailer fire near the end of last month. According to Carroll County District Court records, 18-year-old Devon Dewaine Lentz has been charged with reckless use of fire, a serious misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident on Thursday, March 28 at an abandoned trailer in the 500 block of North Grant Road. A criminal complaint indicates Lentz and a friend were inside the trailer at approximately 1 a.m. when Lentz decided to light a picture on fire. He contacted 911 when the fire started to spread and told the dispatcher he had seen two kids running away from the trailer. The Carroll Fire Department was called to the scene, but officers were able to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher before they arrived. After reviewing video evidence from a nearby business, authorities determined Lentz and his friend were the only individuals in the area at the time, and he later admitted to starting the fire.
