Carroll Man Accused Of Possessing Burglar’s Tools And Carrying Weapons Sentenced In District Court

A Carroll man accused of possessing burglar’s tools and carrying a knife over eight inches has been sentenced to probation in District Court for Carroll County. According to court records, 25-year-old Joshua Adam Peterson submitted his pleas to the aggravated misdemeanor charges after reaching an agreement with prosecutors. Peterson was sentenced Friday to two two-year suspended prison terms. As a condition of his sentence being suspended, Peterson was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. Nearly $1,700 in fines and surcharges were also suspended. The charges stem from an incident on July 9 in the 10000 block of Mahogany Avenue. Peterson and 37-year-old McKensie Rae Bess of Lake City were arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office after they were found in possession of multiple crow bars and a tool set, which authorities believe were to be used to commit a crime. Bess is scheduled to go to trial on Nov. 19 at the courthouse.
