Carroll Fifth Grader Starts 501(c)3 To Help Raise Money For Local Charities

Pat and Alie Tigges have said that the whole goal with their idea to bring an all-inclusive playground to Carroll was to also use this as an opportunity to raise awareness. Their son was born with a condition similar to Cerebral Palsy, and the park, Kellan’s Kingdom, has been named after him. Pat says that as they get closer and closer to their idea coming to fruition at Northeast Park—with construction underway now—he is amazed at how other people are joining them to help with generating even more awareness.

The fifth grader started D.E.A.L. because of that connection with Kellan and got the idea after seeing a girl on television who had started her own charity. Her parents and her sister, Chris, Beth and Kaitlyn Tigges, all pitched in, helping her get things rolling and to develop the name, which stands for Dignity, Equality Acceptance and Love. Miley then got everyone organized to hold their first fundraising event.

Miley says they have t-shirts printed and are offering several different options for people to support Kellan’s Kingdom and the proposed Miracle League Field.

Miley, however, isn’t planning on stopping there. She is also going to be supporting other area charities with her newly formed 501(c)3.

More details on the walk around Swan Lake and the order forms for the t-shirts can be found here.
