Carroll Employers And County Residents Asked To Help With Labor Study

Carroll employers and county residents will soon be receiving a request to provide details for a laborshed study. The Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC), Iowa Workforce Development and the Iowa Economic Development Authority are partnering for the commuting patterns’ study that will geographically define which communities contribute to Carroll’s workforce, regardless of political boundaries. The identified purpose is to measure the characteristics of Carroll-area workers and ultimately to use the information to understand the local labor market, make informed expansion and site selection decisions and maintain or recruit a high-quality workforce. Employers in Carroll will be contacted and asked to provide aggregate counts of employees’ residential ZIP codes. Confidential survey requests will be mailed to residents and will include detailed instructions on how to access the survey online or that they will receive a telephone call to participate. The calls will originate out of Cedar Rapids with a 319 area code. Some may also receive a text message from their 888 number stating they will be calling soon. Survey questions will cover employment status, current and desired wages, current and desired benefits, education level, type of occupation, etc. They will NOT ask any questions about identifiable information, such as social security numbers or dates of birth. Anyone with questions about the laborshed study can contact Katie Lippold, project manager with Iowa Workforce Development, or Shannon Landauer, Executive Director of the CADC, by using the contact information included here.
