Carroll Eagle Scout, Clay Daisy, Completes Project Near Kellan’s Kingdom At Northeast Park

The planning and preparation took several months, but once he got the green light and got to work, it only took Carroll Eagle Scout, Clay Daisy, about seven days to get the hard labor completed on his project. Daisy, a member of Troop #105, received permission from the Boy Scouts of America Council to create five, six foot by six foot sensory squares next to the Kellan’s Kingdom playground at Northeast Park. The fourteen year old, whose eight-year-old brother, Wyatt, was born with a condition that resulted in mental, physical and emotional delays, says he wanted to do something that would be of help and support to everyone, including his brother. Daisy, with the assistance of his mother, Barb, his grandparents, John and Patti Daisy, and some of the other scouts from his troop began with the concrete forming and pouring on Sunday, Oct. 20. The entire project was completed on Sunday, Oct. 27 and the squares are now filled with gravel, wood chips, rubber mats, concrete and river rocks. A sign next to the squares succinctly explains Daisy’s reasoning for bringing this gift to Northeast Park: “The sensory path is designed to improve children’s confidence and give them more independence in their walking or wheelchair abilities by providing different outdoor materials that they encounter daily.”
