Carroll County Supervisors To Dive Back Into Jail Project Financing And Bonds At Monday’s Meeting

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors meets Monday for their next regularly scheduled meeting, and the jail project is again on the agenda. The board will begin their meeting with a brief report concerning secondary roads from County Engineer, Dave Paulson. They will then move on to approve payables, plats and manure management annual updates, followed by reports from committees and a public hearing for a change of use request along 318th Street on the south side of Manning. The supervisors will close out the meeting with a lengthy discussion on financing the jail project. The lowest base bid came from Badding Construction Company of Carroll but was nearly $2 million over the originally estimated $8.95 million price tag. The supervisors have already authorized architectural firm, Shive Hattery, to begin a “value engineering” exercise with the company in an effort to reduce cost. However, officials do not believe this will be enough to bring the bid as low as the original estimates. The supervisors will discuss their options in depth during the meeting. The last item on the agenda is a discussion with a representative from D.A. Davidson to review the jail bond’s pricing and structure. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 at the Carroll County Courthouse. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The full agenda can be found included with this story on our website.
