Carroll County Prosecutors File Formal Charges Against Evansdale Woman Accused Of Forgery

Prosecutors have filed trial information in District Court for Carroll County against a woman accused of forging multiple checks at a convenience store east of Breda. According to court documents filed Wednesday, 27-year-old Miranda Marie Dewitt of Evansdale has been charged with two counts of forgery, class D felonies. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says in a criminal complaint Dewitt purchased items at Al’s Corner on March 19 with a check from an account she did not own. She is also accused of forging another check the following day. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for July 11 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If found guilty of both counts, Dewitt faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and $15,000 in fines.
