Authorities have released details about two accidents that occurred over the past weekend. The first was reported at approximately 6:39 p.m. west of Lanesboro on Friday. A Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responded to the scene at Timber Avenue and 120th Street to find a 2007 Chevrolet Impala in the east ditch. Twenty-eight-year-old Alicia Marina Currera of Carroll was northbound on Timber Avenue when she drifted of the road, entered the ditch, rolling the car several times before it came to rest on the wheels. Currera and her passenger, 23-year-old Christian Sterner of Carroll, both complained of minor injuries but were not transported for treatment. The Impala was deemed a total loss. The second accident occurred Saturday near Westside at approximately 2:38 p.m. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports that 41-year-old Amanda Josephine Cole of Westside was westbound on 200th Street, between Aspen and Birch Avenues, when a deer ran out in front of the vehicle. Cole swerved to avoid hitting the animal, but lost control of the 2004 Chevrolet Impala on the gravel road and entered the north ditch, traveled into a corn field and rolled, coming to rest on the driver’s side. Both Cole and her passenger, Thomas Schneider, were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the car and $1,000 to corn belonging to Glen Leiting of Westside. Cole received a warning for failure to maintain control.
