Car Damaged When Shaft Falls Off Feed Truck Onto Roadway

Neither driver was injured last Thursday when a car ran over a broken truck part on the roadway near the intersection of Granite Avenue and Iowa Highway 141, west of Templeton. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports they responded to the scene at approximately 4:43 p.m. Upon arrival, they learned that a 2007 Sterling feed truck, driven by 61-year-old Marvin Edward Pudenz of Auburn and owned by GSC Ag, was eastbound on Highway 141 when a shaft broke off the truck and fell onto the highway. A 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 53-year-old Sonia Nadine Kuchel of Manning, was also eastbound and ran over the shaft. Kuchel had to pull her vehicle to the side of the road, where it was immobilized and had substantial leakage from the undercarriage. There was an estimated $2,000 in damage to the Malibu and $1,500 to the feed truck. No citations were issued in the incident.
