Burglary Charges Dismissed In Carroll County District Court For Man Accused Of Multi-State Burglary Spree In 2015

Charges against a man believed to be responsible for a string of burglaries throughout western Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado four years ago have been dismissed in district court. On Tuesday, a magistrate approved a motion from the Carroll County Attorney’s Office to dismiss four counts of third-degree burglary, class D felonies, filed against 29-year-old Shawn Edward Boger of Clay County. The statute of limitations for burglary in Iowa is set at three years. According to authorities, Boger allegedly broke into Irlmeier Paint and The Still in Templeton and the Southside Lounge and Donna’s Café in Dedham during the early morning hours of Aug. 25, 2015. While inside, he is accused of stealing a large amount of cash and damaging ATMs, jukeboxes and gaming machines. Boger and his brother, Cody, were arrested on Oct. 15, 2015 in Briggsdale, Colo during a burglary in progress. At that time, Boger had more than 60 warrants out for his arrest. He has a long history of non-violent criminal convictions, including theft, burglary, escape from custody and more. Some of those offenses can be found included with this story on our website.
