Bench Warrants Issued For Two Carroll Men For Failure To Appear At Pretrial Hearings

Bench warrants have been issued for two Carroll men who failed to attend pretrial hearings earlier this week. According to Carroll County District Court records, 19-year-old Devon Dewaine Lentz, who is charged with lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony, and 37-year-old Kevin Marcus Moore, who is charged with delivery of a controlled substance: MDMA, also a class C felony, were scheduled to appear at the courthouse Monday. Their trials were set to begin today (Tuesday) but have been delayed due to their absence from the proceedings. A district court judge signed warrant for their arrests Monday morning, and new trial dates will be scheduled after they are in custody. Authorities allege Lentz went to the home of a 12-year-old female victim on May 6, kissed her on the lips, and engaged in indecent sexual contact. Moore’s charge stems from an incident on July 16 in the 500 block of E. 18th Street, during which officers with the Carroll Police Department witnessed the sale of ecstasy take place. In Iowa, class C felonies carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
