Authorities Identify Woman Killed In Collision With Semi Monday Afternoon

A woman who was reportedly a new resident of the area was killed in a collision with a semi northeast of Carroll Monday afternoon. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll Police and Fire Departments, Carroll County Emergency Medical Services, Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) Motor Vehicle Enforcement and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene at approximately 11:43 a.m. on County Road N33 and East 18th Street. The initial investigation has revealed that 29-year-old Tia Monique Newsome, whose identification still listed her address as Radcliff, Ky., was eastbound on 18th Street in a 2007 Dodge Caliber when she failed to stop at a posted sign. Her car struck the passenger side of  a 2006 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer, driven by 24-year-old Cody Michael Farrell of Glidden. Newsome was pronounced dead at the scene. Farrell was uninjured in the accident. The roadway was closed down for several hours Monday afternoon as emergency crews also worked to clean up a diesel spill that resulted from the collision.
