UPDATED: Authorities Deal With Three Separate Vehicle Incidents Tuesday In Carroll

Editors note: The following story has been revised to correct the location of damage to the McFarland vehicle.

Carroll authorities responded to three vehicle incidents between about 9:30 a.m. and 1:28 p.m. Tuesday. A call came in to the Carroll City/County Communication Center at around 9:30 a.m. reporting a vehicle that was “all over the road,” headed westbound on U.S. Highway 30 in Carroll. Officers observed the vehicle doing exactly as was reported and initiated a stop at Highway 30 and Bella Vista Drive. The driver, however, failed to yield and was eventually stopped a few blocks further west near Maple Street. It was learned that a medical emergency was the cause of the driving issue and the driver was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment. The second incident was a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 10th Street and Salinger Avenue at approximately 11:56 a.m. Sixteen-year-old Spencer Wright of Jefferson was westbound on 10th and 65-year-old Jeanne Hansen of Carroll was southbound on Salinger. The Hansen vehicle failed to yield and struck the Wright SUV on the passenger side. Hansen was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. The final accident occurred at approximately 1:28 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and 18th Street. Twenty-nine-year-old Nicole Sanchez of Carroll was northbound on 71 and 35-year-old Jacqueline McFarland, also of Carroll, was westbound on 18th. McFarland pulled away from the posted sign at the intersection and out in front of Sanchez, resulting in her vehicle being struck in the rear driver’s side. McFarland was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. No injuries were reported in either of the accidents.
