A public hearing on Audubon’s proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 budget has been scheduled for the next city council meeting. Officials are projecting expenditures will exceed revenues by nearly $700,000 in the next budget year. Current estimates show the city anticipates bringing in about $7.4 million and expects to spend nearly $8.1 million. Clerk, Joe Foran, says they are trying to spend down some reserves in several of their departments and the numbers seem larger than usual due to several large project, whose cost will fall in FY 2020. Property tax levied by the city is expected to jump about 94 cents to $22.72 per $1,000 of taxable valuation. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11 at Audubon City Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
