Approximately $12,000 In Damages In Two-Vehicle Accident Involving Greene County School District Vehicle

There was a total of around $12,000 in damages reported in a two-vehicle accident involving a Greene County District School vehicle on Tuesday. The Jefferson Police Department responded to the intersection of Chestnut and Wilcoxway at approximately 4:39 p.m. A 2010 Dodge Caravan owned by the school district and operated by Mona Weltz of Jefferson was northbound on Chestnut. A 2016 Kia Sorento, driven by Vicki Copeland of Jefferson, was stopped at the posted sign on Wilcoxway, then proceeded into the intersection where she was struck by the Caravan. The school district’s van sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages and the Copeland vehicle a reported $7,000. There were no injuries reported and Copeland was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
