Another Counterfeit $100 Bill Found In Storm Lake, Suspect Re-Arrested

Storm Lake authorities have located a sixth counterfeit $100 bill following two arrests on July 31. On that Wednesday morning, a local convenience store reported receiving four of the bills, and within an hour, a liquor store notified authorities that a person of interest was at that location. Twenty-five-year-old Ervin Dewalt of Storm Lake was arrested, and a fifth counterfeit bill with the same serial numbers of those used at the convenience store was found on his person. The investigation uncovered a second suspect, 27-year-old Dennis Williams, also of Storm Lake, who was taken into custody that afternoon. On the morning of Thursday, Aug. 1, another convenience store reported receipt of a counterfeit bill with the same serial number as those previously distributed. Surveillance footage identified Dewalt as the person who had allegedly passed the bill. Dewalt had already been released from jail pending a trial, but was re-arrested Thursday evening and booked into the Buena Vista County jail on a $15,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing and the department is warning area businesses to be on the lookout for $100 bills with the serial number HB21212520 J.
