A Temporary Solution Has Been Found To Stop The Flow Of Wastewater Into Cherokee County River

A temporary solution has been found to stop the daily flow of approximately 15,000 to 20,000 gallons of wastewater into the Little Sioux River in Cherokee County. The City of Quimby contracted a manure hauler on Thursday to transport wastewater from a pump station to the city’s lagoon. This process will continue until city workers can access a broken force main under the river for replacement or repair. The break was reported to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on Monday morning. Quimby’s wastewater operator said that flooding had made it impossible to reach the affected area.
