WIT Gets New Ride And New Drivers

Western Iowa Transit (WIT) has made several new additions recently to both their fleet of vehicles as well as their pool of drivers. The organizations first 28-passenger, medium duty bus has been purchased. Funding for the Ford Eldorado came mainly from the 2017 Federal Transit Authority (FTA) Rural Transit Vehicle Replacement contract, requiring only 15 percent local funding. The remainder was paid for by the FTA. Several new drivers have also joined WIT with Ross Lesher of Denison, who will be serving communities in and around Crawford County. A former Manning employee, Richard Schmidt, has returned to serve the southern Carroll and Crawford County residents. Michael Heard of Carroll will be replacing the recently retired Ken Schaefer in the Carroll office and Randall Lebeck of Grand Junction has been brought onto the team for services out of the Greene County Office.
