Waukee Man Accused Of Stealing From Victims During Coon Rapids Christmas Concert Scheduled For October Trial

A Waukee man accused of stealing almost $4,000 from vehicles in Coon Rapids last December is scheduled to go to trial next month. Twenty-year-old Jake Allen Cretsinger has entered a not guilty plea in Carroll County District Court to second-degree theft, a class D felony, and his jury trial is slated to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Carroll County Courthouse. According to the original criminal complaint from the Coon Rapids Police Department, Cretsinger allegedly broke into the vehicles on Dec. 3, 2017 and took $3,787 worth of items, causing $575 in damage in the process. Many of the victims were attending a Christmas concert at the United Methodist Church at the time the theft occurred. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 1 to determine if the case will be resolved by plea agreement, be dismissed or proceed to trial. If found guilty of the charge, he faces up to five years in prison and a maximum of $7,500 in fines.
