National History Day competitions will be taking place across the state in March, and organizers are searching for volunteers in our local district. The Merle Hay District, which includes the counties of Carroll, Audubon,
Guthrie, Greene, Boone, Dallas, Polk and Madison, will host their contest on Saturday, March 31 at Grandview University in Des Moines. The State Historical Society of Iowa is seeking judges who will help evaluate projects while creating a positive experience for Iowa’s young historians. All volunteers must be 18 or older and they will be provided with online training prior to the event. The National History Day in Iowa program is also looking for volunteer helpers for the statewide competition on Monday, April 30 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. These volunteers will act as ushers during performances and presentations. Links to register can be found here.
