Two Vehicles Totaled In Friday Afternoon Collision Near Sac City

Two drivers were transported for treatment last Friday afternoon following an accident about two miles east of Sac City. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and 255th Street at approximately 1:36 p.m on July 27. According to authorities, 26-year-old Krystal Anne Brauckman, of Lake View, was traveling westbound on 255th in a 1997 Dodge Intrepid. Witness statements indicated Brauckman failed to stop for a posted stop sign and proceeded into highway traffic where she collided with a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 24-year-old Taylor Lynn Miller of Nemaha. Following impact, the vehicles came to rest northeast of the intersection. Both drivers were transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City by Sac County Emergency Medical Services for suspected injuries. The vehicles were totaled by the collision with damage to the Brauckman Dodge estimated at $2,000 and $18,000 to the Miller Chevrolet. Brauckman was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway.
