Two-Vehicle Accident Near Odebolt Causes $55,000 In Damage

There was an estimated $55,000 in damage following a two-vehicle accident about three miles north of Odebolt. According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the intersection of Fox Avenue and 300th Street. A 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by 73-year-old Victoria Anna Quirk of Lake View, was traveling northbound on Fox Avenue. At the same time, a 2018 Freightliner semi, driven by 58-year-old Todd Alan Hoffman of Dubuque and owned by Alewelt Inc. of Alden, was turning east onto 300th. Quirk believed the semi was making a turn to the west, attempted to go around and collided with the passenger side of the Hoffman semi. There was an estimated $5,000 to the pickup truck and approximately $50,000 to the semi. Both vehicles received disabling damage and needed to be towed from the scene. Quirk reported a cut to her forehead and was transported by Sac County Emergency Medical Services for treatment.
