Two People Airlifted With Serious Injuries After Thursday Morning Crash

Two people were seriously injured in Audubon County this (Thursday) morning following a single-vehicle accident near Kimballton. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2013 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 53-year-old Terry Martin of Earling, was traveling northbound at approximately 10 a.m. on Bluebird Avenue. The Impala drifted off the east side of the roadway, entered the ditch and vaulted over a field entrance before coming to rest on its top. Martin and his passenger, 81-year-old Darrell Leib of Kimballton, were airlifted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha with life-threatening injuries. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Audubon and Shelby County Sheriff’s Offices, and the Kimballton and Elk Horn Fire Departments.
