Two of five men sought by the Storm Lake Police Department (SLPD) for their suspected involvement in the sale and distribution of narcotics were arrested less than 24 hours after details were released to the public on Wednesday. The department reports that at approximately 1:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, 30-year-old Sergio Quintero Orellano of Storm Lake turned himself into authorities at the police station. He was wanted on a SLPD warrant for charges of delivery of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a class C felony. He was also wanted on a Buena Vista County warrant for failure to appear in a domestic assault case. Quintero Orellano was booked into the Buena Vista County jail, where he is being held without bond. At approximately 10:50 p.m. Wednesday night, the SLPD was advised that the Ida County Sheriff’s Office had located and arrested 26-year-old Heath Mefferd of Ida Grove. Mefferd was wanted on SLPD warrants charging him with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was transported to the Buena Vista County jail, where he was booked and held on a $1,300 bond. As a part of the police department’s special drug enforcement investigation, dubbed “Operation Winter Blues,” the authorities are still searching for three other suspects who have had warrants issued for their arrest on drug-related charges. They include: 23-year-old Christian Quintero of Storm Lake; 21-year-old Charles Robbins of Alta; and 22-year-old Nhiam Ngut of Storm Lake. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of these men is asked to contact authorities. Contact information and photos of the suspects can be found below.
