Trial Scheduled For Omaha Man Accused Of Stealing $2,400 Worth Of Goods From Carroll Walmart

The jury trial for an Omaha man accused of trying to steal $2,400 in goods from the Carroll Walmart has been scheduled. Twenty-year-old Justin Michael Matulevicz has pled not guilty to second-degree theft, a class D felony, with a trial date set for Tuesday, May 22 in Carroll County District Court. The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 25 in which he fled from the store when employees discovered he had stashed products into a fish tank in an effort to sneak them through the checkout. A pretrial conference has been scheduled for Thursday, May 10 to determine if the case will be resolved by plea agreement, if the case will be dismissed or if the case is going to be tried. If found guilty of the charge, Matulevicz faces a maximum of five years in prison and up to $7,500 in fines.
