Trial Information Filed In District Court For Lake City Man Accused Of Burglary, Arraignment Hearing Scheduled For September

An arraignment hearing for a Lake City man accused of breaking into a Glidden restaurant has been scheduled for mid-September. According to trial information filed in District Court for Carroll County, 39-year-old Shane Michael McDougall is charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony, and is ordered to make his plea, either in person or written, by Thursday, Sept. 13. The charge stems from an incident on July 29, 2017, in which McDougall allegedly forced his way into the Glidden Dairy Mart with the intent to commit theft. Third-degree burglary generally carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a maximum of $7,500 in fines if found guilty, but McDougall could face a harsher punishment due to previous felony convictions for burglary in Carroll and Wright Counties and failure to affix drug tax stamp in Guthrie County.
