The Carroll Police Department responded to three accidents and assisted the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office with another over the course of this past weekend. At approximately 10:06 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, they were called to the intersection of 4th and Main Streets for a two-vehicle collision. A 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 62-year-old Debra Riesberg of Carroll, was southbound on Main when it was struck in the driver’s side by a 2012 Ford Focus, driven by 62-year-old Jeffrey Holtgrewe of Cherry Hill Village, Colo. No injuries were reported, and Holtgrewe was cited for failure to stop at a posted sign. The second accident was only minutes later, coming in at 10:55 a.m. at the Highway 30 and 71 junction. A 1996 Ford Explorer, driven by 75-year-old Robert Dix, lost control on the snow and ice-covered roadway. He struck a sign in the median of Highway 30, causing only minor damage to his vehicle. The Carroll PD also reports that a parked vehicle was struck at about 3:17 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Woodland Drive. Forty-seven-year-old Elizabeth Gingery of Carroll lost control and hit a 2009 Honda Accord in the parking lot.
