Three Juvenile Females Arrested After Storm Lake Crime Spree

Three juvenile females went on a crime spree in Storm Lake, which included the theft of a vehicle. The Storm Lake Police Department reports the arrest of the 13- 14- and 16-year-old females on Tuesday, after an investigation was initiated with the report of a missing 2014 Nissan from a local residence. The report came in at about 5:55 a.m. and later that afternoon, at around 4:20 p.m., authorities were informed that the vehicle had just been parked and there were two girls walking away. Upon arrival, they located and arrested both the 14 year old and the 16 year old. The 13 year old was located later and also taken into custody. The investigation further alleges the vehicle was stolen by the 13-year-old at approximately 2 a.m., at which time she picked up the other two. The three then reportedly stole gasoline from a Casey’s General Store, merchandise and food from WalMart and license plates from another vehicle. They also discarded a variety of stolen items at different locations throughout Storm Lake, many of which were recovered by authorities. The 13-year-old female has been charged with first-degree theft, a class C felony, and three counts of theft in the fifth degree, simple misdemeanors. The 14 and 16 year olds were charged with possession of stolen property in the first degree, a class C felony, and two counts of theft in the fifth degree. All three were processed and transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee. Their cases have been forwarded to the juvenile courts.
