Students Raise Over $25,000 For Kuemper In FitKnight Fundraiser

Pre-schoolers through eighth-graders at Kuemper Catholic have raised more than $25,000 through the Parents Club in an effort to promote fitness and support the school. The Parents Club used to sell magazines subscriptions and food items as a fundraiser, but Becky Vonnahme, a Parents Club member, says they wanted to change the focus towards fitness with a new event called FitKnight and got the Carroll County Wellness Coalition involved. To encourage kids to raise money and excercise, they offered levels of incentives.

Their fundraising effort was celebrated Wednesday and today (Thursday) with students being let out of class to enjoy activities like tug-of-war, an obstacle course and much more. Vonnahme says FitKnight ends with a special student assembly tomorrow (Friday)

By raising $25,000, students earned the chance to throw 93 pies at Kuemper teachers and staff. Vonnahme says it is great to see the kids having so much fun helping their school, but adds knowing 100 percent of the money raised will stay local is just as good.
