Several students at St. Mary’s High School in Storm Lake alerted authorities that one of their peers was sharing plans for a school shooting. On Wednesday, Dec. 12, at approximately 10:27 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the school. The 14-year-old male suspect was taken into custody without incident and a search was conducted at the school. Later that afternoon, a consent search was also conducted at the student’s home. No weapons were found at either location. Following the interview of witnesses and an initial investigation, the juvenile male was charged with threats of terrorism, a class D felony. He was then transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee pending a court date.
