Storm Lake Woman Involved In Altercation Where Child Was Used As Human Shield Arrested

The Storm Lake woman involved in a violent encounter where a child was used as a shield has been arrested and charged. The Storm Lake Police Department reports they were notified on Wednesday afternoon that 22-year-old Yasmin Terrero was released from a treatment facility and had been transported to the Buena Vista County jail on warrants acquired from the Dec. 17 incident. Terrero was charged with domestic assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, and domestic assault, a simple misdemeanor. She was booked into the jail on a $2,300 bond. Terrero allegedly had two physical altercations in the same day with 26-year old Jiovanni Ramirez Flores in front of three children, ages seven, three and two years old. On that Monday evening, during the second incident, Terrero armed herself with a kitchen knife and Ramirez Flores pulled the seven year old in front of him until Terrero dropped the weapon. All three children were removed from the home by the Iowa Department of Human Services and Ramirez Flores was taken into custody.
