Storm Lake Man Arrested After Threatening To Shoot Infant At Church Gathering

A Storm Lake man has been arrested after threatening to shoot an infant during a church youth group meeting. On Monday morning, the Storm Lake Police received a report that 18-year-old Nicholas Arett had told others of his plan to shoot the child of a juvenile female acquaintance. The investigation revealed that Arett took a BB gun pistol to the United Methodist Church Youth Group event on March 14. Others present at the meeting warned Arett, telling him to take the pistol home prior to his being confronted by church officials. Although the police were not notified at that time, they interviewed several individuals who were present. A black BB gun pistol was located during the investigation and authorities followed up by meeting with Arett at the station on Monday. He was taken into custody and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony, and going armed with intent, a class D felony. He was booked into the Buena Vista County jail and held on a $15,000 bond.
