Storm Lake Firefighter Treated For Injuries Sustained In Sunday Night Business Fire

A Storm Lake firefighter received minor injuries while battling a blaze in a local business building. The fire department responded to the scene at 800 Oneida St. at approximately 11:35 p.m. Sunday night to find heavy smoke and visible flames on the west side of the structure. Firefighters were able to extinguish the large blaze that was burning above the ceiling in an office area while a second crew attacked it through the west window. The fire was contained to the center suite of the business complex with heavy smoke damage to the rest of the building that houses the Social Security Services, The Cornerstone and Trusted Energy. The investigation revealed the fire was caused by an unspecified electrical short circuit in the rear office of the suite. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
