A development director with the Storm Lake St. Mary Parish and School has been selected as one of two directors assisting with the annual Sioux City Diocese Bishop’s Dinner. Dawn Prosser joins Lisa Nieburh of Le Mars Gehlen Catholic Schools to help spearhead the 22nd annual dinner for Catholic schools. Prosser has been with the Storm Lake parish and schools for 23 years, having attended every Bishop’s dinner since their inception. “With the teamwork of the diocesan development office, the chancery staff and the vast generous donor base, I’m confident this dinner will be a successful event for the diocesan Catholic schools,” Prosser says. The Oct. 21 event at the Sioux City Convention Center will feature keynote speaker, Sister Miriam James Heidland, a Sister of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity. The Bishop’s dinner is the single largest fundraiser for the 16 schools in the Sioux City Diocese, which includes Kuemper Catholic Schools in Carroll. One hundred percent of the proceeds are distributed back to the schools in the form of educational enhancement grants. Last year’s event raised $195,000.
