Storm Lake Authorities Respond To Another Threat At High School

Storm Lake authorities were called once again to the high school on reports of a serious threat made by a student. On Thursday, March 8, at approximately 11:15 a.m., officers with the Storm Lake Police Department were dispatched on a report that a 15-year-old male had threatened a staff member. After visiting with school employees, the officers learned the student had posted a message on a social media platform and threatened to assault a Storm Lake High School teacher. Several students who saw the image reported it to school authorities. The faculty member was unharmed, and following an investigation, the juvenile male was charged with third-degree harassment, a simple misdemeanor. He was then released to the custody of a parent pending a court date. The case has been transferred to the juvenile courts.
