St. Anthony Welcomes New Staff Chaplain

St. Anthony Regional Hospital has recently welcomed a new staff chaplain to their Spiritual Care team. Angelo Luis will be working to serve as a spiritual and life resource to patients, nursing home residents and staff members of St. Anthony. Luis says he is excited to be starting this new chapter in his life. “When I came to visit the hospital and community here in Carroll,” he says, “everything felt right. Each individual I encountered was accommodating and friendly. I knew this is where I wanted to be.” He adds, “This opportunity arose in Carroll—and I’ve found that whenever I follow God’s whisper, things work out pretty well.” Luis comes to St. Anthony from Iowa Methodist Medical Center, UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, where he completed his residency as chaplain. He also worked several years with Catholic Charities in Chicago. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill., and then spent time traveling the world, which led him into ministry services. He then earned his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., and has earned five certified pastoral care accreditations. Luis has relocated to Carroll and spends his spare time enjoying music, working out and running, having completed a half marathon in 2016.
