As one of the first orders of business for the new year, the St. Anthony Regional Hospital Auxiliary held a meeting and installed the officers for 2018. Serving as co-presidents this year are Diane Hannasch and Twilla Hoffman; Pat Hill and Mary Macke; Pat Louis and Michele Phillips; and Jan Potthoff and Linda Wernimont. Treasurer is Judy Mayer and recording secretary is Carolyn Ehlers. The St. Anthony Auxiliary has provided more than $700,000 in funding for major hospital projects over the years, including the Alzheimer’s addition, the Birth Place, the Education Center, the Stork’s Nest and cardiac rehabilitation. The most recognizable way the group raises money is through the operation of the Coffee and Gift Shop, which serves food and has a wide selection of gift items in the hospital atrium. They also volunteer at the reception desk and surgery center, assist with various clerical duties throughout the facility and organize blood drives. Many share their talents and abilities by knitting and crocheting items for patients and every baby born at St. Anthony. Co-chair, Twilla Hoffman, says there are a number of ways to volunteer, and they will work with everyone to match up their personal interests with the opportunities available. Currently, the Auxiliary has 376 members. Anyone interested in learning more about joining is asked to call Kathie Luchtel at 792-1734.
