Slick Roadway May Be To Blame For Single-Vehicle Accident Monday

A partially-slick roadway is to blame for a single-vehicle accident north of Carroll on Monday morning. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at approximately 7:33 a.m. to Highway 71 north near the intersection with 150th Street. They found that 17-year-old Alexander Michael Schwabe of Breda had slowed for a vehicle turning onto 150th Street, but lost control on the semi-slick roadway when he began to accelerate. His 2006 Dodge Dakota traveled across 150th Street and entered the south ditch, causing damage to a stop sign and disabling damage to his vehicle. There were no injuries reported, but there was an estimated $3,000 in damage to the Dakota and an additional $250 in damage to the stop sign.
