Sheriff Pingrey Says Jail Committee Is Looking For Citizen Involvement

In an early morning interview Friday, Carroll County Sheriff, Ken Pingrey, provided some insights into topics of interest to local citizens. One of the biggest things on the horizon for the county is the need to make updates to housing of prisoners. Pingrey is an integral member of a jail committee, who have begun working on the development of an assessment to identify the current needs, as well as those for the next 50 years.

He adds that not only is it too small, the design is no longer functional for modern-day purposes. They will eventually be opening the jail up for public tours to allow county residents to see the conditions first-hand. The six-member committee is working with Shive Hattery, and Pingrey says they are also in the process of bringing citizens in for their opinions and input as well.

Meetings are open and the next one will be on Thursday, March 29 at 1 p.m. in the Carroll Courthouse meeting room, on the lower level. Tune in to upcoming broadcasts to hear more from Sheriff Pingrey on several different scams they are seeing in the area and ways you can protect yourself.
